The Severn Counties Foreign & British Birds Society Open Show on the 24th October 2009 was held as a Memorial Show in respect of two committee members, Chris Durbin – Treasurer & Patronage Secretary, and Pete Read – Library Steward, who both sadly passed away during the earlier part of this year.
Judges for the show were A. Hickson – British Section, T. Sayers – Foreign Section and A. Wells – Zebra/Bengalese Section
The number of exhibitors and birds staged were down from 2008, but the quality of the exhibits was outstanding. Chairman, Fred Smith conducted an Auction after the prize giving which generated a great deal of laughter and raised a massive £202 for the societies charity fund, recently renamed the ‘Chris Durbin Memorial Fund for S.C.F. & B.B.S.’ for which a big thank you is due to those who attended. So all in all, a good day was had by both exhibitors, visitors and the society.
Awards were presented by President Roger Tippett
